Final Project

This week I worked on defining my final project ideas and started to getting used to the documentation process.

Idea 1: Makerspace Door Access Button:

This concept proposes a simple electronic access button that allows controlled entry to the Makerspace without interrupting ongoing classes. Instead of stopping a lesson each time a student needs to enter, a wall-mounted button connected to an electronic control system would manage door access efficiently. The system could later be extended using IoT technologies to automate permissions and improve classroom flow.

Idea 2: Solar-Powered Car Umbrella:

This idea explores a foldable car umbrella equipped with an integrated solar panel, designed to reduce heat buildup when a car is parked outdoors. The solar energy collected could be used to power ventilation or auxiliary cooling mechanisms, helping keep the car’s interior temperature as low as possible. The system is intended to sit on the car roof and deploy when parked in direct sunlight.

Idea 3: Gesture-Controlled Child Stroller

This concept focuses on a child stroller controlled remotely through hand gestures using a wearable strap or glove. The system would detect hand movements and translate them into control signals, allowing the stroller to respond accordingly. The goal is to provide an intuitive and hands-free method of control while maintaining safety and responsiveness.

I selected Idea 1 because it enables broad exploration across areas that are largely new to me, including networking, coding, advanced 3D modeling, and electronics integration. This project intentionally challenges my current skill set and aligns closely with the learning objectives of this diploma, allowing me to grow through hands-on experimentation and iterative design.
