Sketching My Final Project
For my final project, I plan on fabricating an ergonomic keyboard that includes a programmable LCD screen, volume sliders, and a knob, and is customizable through QMK or VIA. Here is a breakdown of possible parts.
- 3D printed case
- 3D printed keycaps
- Cherry MX compatible switches
- PCB designed in KiCAD and shiped from PCBWay
- Microcontroller
- Wires
- Keyboard plate
- Battery for bluetooth compatibility
This is my rough sketch of the keyboard.

I chose to design this specific final project because I have always found a passion for building keyboards, but have never been able to create one that is truly modeled to my liking. Generic keyboard are often at an awkward angle that causes wrist pains and discomfort, possibly leading to conditions such as carpal tunnel. By designing my own keyboard, I will be able to customize it to fit my natural wrist angle and finger length, maximizing comfort and convenience. Through the knob, sliders, and LCD screen, I can futher customize my keyboard depending on the task at hand or game I am playing.
