Week 02: Blender

The opening screen has your working cube, a camera and a light source. The set up reminds me of stage commands.

  • delete objects from scene on right or by clicking on the object and choosing delete

Commands

  • number pad change view
  • shift + scroll to move around
  • scroll to zoom
  • move object with arrows by clicking on object and moving
    • hold x, y, or z keys to constrain movement to corresponding axis
  • origin, rotation point, right click on object to set origin

Edit Mode

On the top left there are selections for:

  • vertex: select single node
  • edge: select an edge
  • face: select face

We played around with editing the vertex, edge, and face selections.

Strange random shape

Top right buttons:

  • toggle x-ray, looks like a stick figure cube
    • overlapped/hidden vertices/edges/or faces will be chosen

X-ray view

  • loopcut, looks like a cube with a line around it

    • always evenly spaced between 2 adjacent selections
      • choose number of cuts in top left
  • add material

    • shift + a
      • add new object in Object mode
      • add new object to working object in Edit mode
    • while in shift + a menu press "s" to bring up search

New object, cloth

Cloth over monkey and modifier settings

Cloth Divisions

  • edit - right click - subdivide
  • give cloth thickness
