Week 02: Blender¶
The opening screen has your working cube, a camera and a light source. The set up reminds me of stage commands.
- delete objects from scene on right or by clicking on the object and choosing delete
Commands¶
- number pad change view
- shift + scroll to move around
- scroll to zoom
- move object with arrows by clicking on object and moving
- hold x, y, or z keys to constrain movement to corresponding axis
- origin, rotation point, right click on object to set origin
Edit Mode¶
On the top left there are selections for:
- vertex: select single node
- edge: select an edge
- face: select face
We played around with editing the vertex, edge, and face selections.

Top right buttons:
- toggle x-ray, looks like a stick figure cube
- overlapped/hidden vertices/edges/or faces will be chosen

- always evenly spaced between 2 adjacent selections
- choose number of cuts in top left
- always evenly spaced between 2 adjacent selections

add material
- shift + a
- add new object in Object mode
- add new object to working object in Edit mode
- while in shift + a menu press "s" to bring up search
- shift + a


Cloth Divisions¶
- edit - right click - subdivide
- give cloth thickness
- modifiers, looks like wrench
- add modifier - search - solidify
- modifiers, looks like wrench
- visual to make smoother appearance
- right click - smooth
We made the cloth fall onto the monkey.
