Hi, I'm Ernesto Castro, a designer and creative technologist based in Peru. I studied Architecture at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, but early on I realized that my true interests didn’t lie in traditional architecture. Instead, I found myself drawn to computational design and digital fabrication—fields where technology becomes not just a tool, but a medium for artistic and conceptual expression. For the past five years, I’ve been working at the intersection of design, art, and technology. My projects often explore ethical and aesthetic reflections on what it means to live and create in today’s world. I believe that form, movement, and gesture can speak as loudly as words, and that design should evoke emotion, provoke thought, and inspire curiosity.
I tend to see the world through a blue lens—literally. About 95% of the things I make are blue, not just by habit, but as a personal language and visual signature. To me, color, material, and code are just as expressive as poetry or music (which I also enjoy—especially when playing the saxophone or shooting hoops). Joining the Fab Academy is an exciting opportunity for me to experiment freely, to have fun, and to deepen my understanding of digital fabrication as a means of storytelling and empowerment. I hope to walk away from this experience not just with technical skills, but with new ways of imagining, building, and sharing meaningful ideas with others.
