FP Presentation with Neil: Script

The main goal behind this project is to create a hands-on platform to educate students and enthusiasts about aerodynamics and rocket science. In an era where space exploration is becoming more accessible through commercial flights, I believe it’s essential to spread awareness and build foundational knowledge in this field.

Over the past year, I’ve worked with underwater ROVs, drones, and planetary rovers. This inspired me to shift focus upward—to space—and use Fab Academy as a chance to bring that vision to life.

Initially, my plan was to launch the full rocket, but due to regulatory requirements, we’re currently working with local authorities to finalize approvals.

So for the Fab Academy milestone, I designed and built a mechanical parachute deployment system that can be integrated into a small rocket body. It’s fully fabricated using digital fabrication tools, includes onboard sensing and actuation, and is designed for safe descent after apogee detection.

We hope to launch it soon, and I’m excited to see how it can help educate and inspire others.
