About Me

About Me

My name is Shema Olivier. I hold a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology. Since childhood, I’ve been curious about how things move, how they are built, and the patterns they follow. This curiosity, along with a deep appreciation for art and design, led me to pursue mechanical engineering, a field where creativity and functionality meet. Over time, I’ve become passionate about exploring the logic behind machines and systems, especially how design influences movement and performance.

What excites me most is the process of turning an idea into a real, functional object. I’m drawn to hands-on work, where I can use tools and machines to build and test prototypes. This passion has naturally brought me into the world of digital fabrication. I see engineering not only as a technical discipline but also as a form of creative expression, an opportunity to combine imagination, structure, and problem-solving to make things that matter.

Why I Am Doing Fab Academy

Fab Academy is a great opportunity for me to grow in digital fabrication and hands-on prototyping. I want to strengthen my skills in using tools like 3D printers, CNC machines, and electronics to turn ideas into real, useful solutions. My goal is to learn how to design and build more effectively so I can contribute to solving real-world problems, especially by creating accessible and affordable technologies that have a positive impact.

At heart, I’m a curious person who loves observing how things move, behave, and interact. I’m constantly inspired by patterns in nature, in art, and in machines. This blend of curiosity, creativity, and technical skill is what drives me and what I hope to grow and share through Fab Academy.
