Documenting workflow process for week 3 computer controlled cutting. I am using a cricut create, a much older cutter, but it works. For this test cut I'm going to make a recycle logo in photoshop, then open that same file in Scal 6 (Legacy cuttin software app). SCAL is short for (Sure Cuts A Lot). I am using the newer version 6. This is pay to use software, but you are allowed to try it out in demo mode to see if it something that is useful to the user. To get SCAL 6 running on a Windows 10 machine you must follow these instructions: 1. You need a copy of SCAL4 for Windows or Mac http://www.craftedge.com/purchase/craft ... _scal4.php or SCAL5 (32 bit version) for Windows (note: 32 bit version will run on both 32 and 64 bit version of Windows) http://www.craftedge.com/purchase/craft ... _scal5.php 2. Download the 3rd party plugin for the Cricut Windows https://ufile.io/j58oi or https://ufile.io/mo1k7 *need to manually install keys Mac https://ufile.io/f19iz or https://ufile.io/1xd6b or https://ufile.io/7g5ii *need to manually install keys After you install both SCAL and the Cricut plugin, start up SCAL, go to the Cutter menu and choose My Cutters and then Manage Cutters. Choose Cricut (or brand that you are using) in the Company/Brand drop down list and then click the Add to list button. You should now be able to cut with your legacy Cricut (Personal, Expression, Cake, Create). Please note this will not work with the Expression2, Mini, Explore, Maker). For the Explore or Maker models, you would just use SCAL4 or SCAL5 to do this http://www.craftedge.com/tutorials/desi ... nspace.php Open photoshop, in the left ribbon hold left click on the "Shape Tool" icon and the option to select a differnt tool shape appears. Select the custom shape. Now at the top ribbon you will see custom ribbons that you can choose from. Choose any, but I am choosing the recycle logo. Upon selecting the icon, move to the part of the screen where your drawing canvas is and click anywhere in that area and drag to create that shape that you selected, you can make it as large as the canvas space or alot smaller, it is up to you. At this point save your image as a .png file so that it is easy for SCAL 6 to read and use it. Now open SCAL 6 and in the "File" option go to import and choose the png that you create in photoshop, paint or whatever program that you used. Once the image is on the screen, it is time to prepare to cut your image. Get your cardstock or any thin similar material that you are using and place it on the stick pads that go with the cutter machine. Align the material to the special marked corner and maker sure that your pad has good level of adhesive strength so that the material holds during the cutting process. Once the material is loaded and the machine is powered on and ready for material. Place pad underneath blade mechanism on the right. Place the pad just under the rollers. You wont be able to push it much. Now press the load paper button. The machine will set the pad in a ready position. Once in ready position go back to SCAL 6 and in the top ribbon, press the cutter button. A settings menu will pop up, if you dont need to change any settings, then begin your cut. Your machine will start up immediately. When cutting is finished, press the "unload paper" button on the cricut machine.
