1.individual work#

Assignment#

Note

  • Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project.
  • Prepare drafts of your summary slide (presentation.png, 1920x1080) and video clip (presentation.mp4, 1080p HTML5, < ~minute, < ~25 MB) and put them in your website’s root directory

Learning outcomes#

  • Develop a plan to share your work
  • Formulate future opportunities and/or development for your final project

Have you answered these questions?#

  • Created a dissemination plan for your final project
  • Outlined future possibilities and described how to make them probabilities
  • Uploaded a draft summary slide and video in the correct resolution and format
  • Checked your slide and video are accessible from your website

nueval-Check List#

A dissemination plan for my final project#

Who is your project for?#

  • FabLab users (who want to continue creative challenges)
  • Educators / Fab Academy instructors (as a support tool for learning activities)
  • Individual creators (who want to make self-discipline a habit)
  • Academic and educational institutions (as an experimental device for creativity education)

How will you raise awareness?#

  • Presentation and demonstration events within the FabLab community
  • Publication of project pages on GitLab (including blueprints, circuits, code, and concepts)
  • Introduction on Slack/Discourse for Fab Academy graduates
  • Participation in domestic and international maker fairs/creative education conferences
  • Publication of tutorial videos and guidebooks in Japanese and English

Is it a business project?#

  • Non-commercial purpose at this time.
  • It is being developed primarily as a “personal continuous creation mechanism”.

License policy#

  • Open Hardware License (CERN OHL)
  • Software: MIT License
    • Can be freely modified and redistributed; ideal configuration for educational and research applications.

How to fund scaling up?#

  • Low-cost design because it is designed to be self-made by individuals/laboratory units
  • If made into a joint research project with interested labs/schools, it may lead to more recovery?
  • In the future, pre-completed hardware kits (pre-assembled circuit boards + 3D printed enclosures) may be sold on a small scale through e-commerce.

Outlined future possibilities and described how to make them probabilities#

Future Possibilities#

  • Expanding Applications in Education

    • Utilized for tutoring individual assignments in high schools, universities, and fab schools
  • Formation of P2P creative learning networks

    • Evolving into an autonomous decentralized learning community where each fab trophy submits assignments and is evaluated by each other
  • Reward management through blockchain integration

    • In addition to recording on Git, develop into tokenization to guarantee authenticity of assignment completion, evaluation, and point distribution
    • In the future, each user will be able to pay a fee to ensure stronger authenticity in the form of linking external virtual currency to the user’s points. This could allow assignment completion to serve as evidence of skill like certificates in MOOCs.
  • Integration into the Fabuaca alumni network

    • Establish as a visualization and motivational device for self-learning and activity logs after graduation

How to make them probabilities#

  • Open design, code, and circuitry on GitHub/GitLab
  • Simple configuration to enable “self-assembly” by anyone
  • Implement small-scale trial introduction (1-2 schools) in educational settings
  • Create opportunities for collaboration with engineers and educators (papers, exhibitions, lectures)
  • Prototype trial operation of P2P trophy network (mutual evaluation demonstration by multiple people)
  • Regular updates and case study sharing to facilitate refinement and redesign

Final Message#

The completion of the Fab Trophy does not diminish the value of instructors. On the contrary, it will likely enhance their value even more.#

When discussing decentralized autonomous learning, we need to have at least a basic understanding of adult development theory. Adult development theory is the idea that even in adulthood, human cognition, personality, values, and decision-making abilities continue to develop in stages.

In this discussion, the following two points are particularly important:

  1. The graph below explains the developmental range in adults. The “Functional Level” refers to the maximum level of ability a person can demonstrate independently, without assistance from others. Originally, our abilities grow only gradually unless we train them directly or indirectly with the help of others. If we are able to train appropriately, we can improve our abilities and skills up to the “Optimal Level” according to each individual’s current assets.

  2. There is a concept called the “Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD)” proposed by Lev Vygotsky. When we attempt something new, there are things we can achieve on our own and things we cannot achieve without support from others. The zone of proximal development refers to the range of tasks that can be completed only with such assistance. For example, it is the area where “can do” and “can’t do” overlap. The key point of the ZPD is that there are always things we cannot achieve alone, but can accomplish with help from others.

There is a phenomenon where the more we wish not to grow, the more our developmental range expands. As we grow into adulthood and age—that is, as our abilities develop—we are able to accomplish more alone. At the same time, however, we are destined to face increasingly complex challenges, which in turn leads to more things that we cannot accomplish on our own. In this way, receiving support from others and offering support to others will always be essential for our growth.
