Week 02 - Computer-Aided Design

This week I played with some new CAD software and made both a strain plate which could be the base for applying strain gauges to the four arms and a base that would fit on a 1'' pipe for that plate.

Also I started to draft the whole assembly in Autodesk Fusion 360.

As by now, it consists of five main parts and I haven't included any fasteners or electronic components. It's just to get an idea of the dimensions.

Here is a screenshot of the model with the component tree.

When I explode the assembly you can see the internal components.

The base includes a pipe mount and an enclosure for electronics. The strain plate is what flexes by the wind and is bolted to the base.

The windshield and the rod connect together and are fixed to the strain plate.

At the top of the rod is an ellipsoid to create more aerodynamic force and therefore momentum, causing the strainplate to flex.
