Week 5¶
Credits to ChatGPT for generating the definitions. I have used the prompt Generate the defination of *your word*
to generate all the definations. To generate some explantions for the softwares, I have used the prompt Can you explain further on *the name of your software*
.
Vocabulary¶
**Subtractive and Additive manufacturing **
Subtractive manufacturing refers to a process where material is removed from a solid block (or sheet) to create the final shape. It uses methods like CNC milling, drilling, cutting, and grinding.
Additive Manufacturing a process where material is added layer by layer to build an object. It uses methods like Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Stereolithography (SLA), and Selective Laser Sintering (SLS).
Software¶
Scaniverse¶
For this week’s assignment, I had used the application Scaniverse which is a 3D scanning app available on iOS devices (primarily iPhones and iPads). It uses the device’s camera to capture real-world objects or environments and creates detailed 3D models. It was first introduced to me by my local instructor, Mr. Anith Ghalley.
To learn how to use it, you can choose to go through my documentation for week 5.
Prusa Slicer¶
PrusaSlicer is a 3D slicing software developed by Prusa Research for preparing 3D models to be printed on 3D printers. It converts 3D models (usually in STL, OBJ, or 3MF file formats) into G-code, a set of instructions that tells the 3D printer how to print the object layer by layer.

Thank you!
