Blender resources

As I have been using blender for visualising in many of my weekly assignments I thought it would be a good idea to get some of the core resources I have used in learning blender in one place.

This is a live list so I will be adding to it over time.

Addons

  • Blender Kit - An amazing library of free and paid models that can be drag and drop applied to a scene

  • Tissue - Brings a lot of parametric design functionality to blender, Im a big user of the dualmesh function

  • Bool Tool - Live boolins can be a fantastic way to animate cutting into a part.

The donut tutorial is a classic one to start with. It is very broad though so if you plan on using blender for specific applications you may find some of it a bit redundant. For example I primarily use blender for rendering so im very rarely going to use things like sculpting, rigging, sim’s etc.

But overall it is a fantastic place to start.

This one was very influential on me. As a product designer who primary does my modeling in cad software and not in blender this workflow opened up a lot of possibility for me and really got me started using blender professionally.

We are back to Mr. Donut but this time we are looking at a specific workflow and not a broad brush look at all of blender. This was the tutorial that helped me crack the “photo-real” barrier and was immediately getting used in a professional setting for me.

A great intro to the workflow of rendering out your gcode. This can be used to fantastic effect.

This series is fantastic for starting to understand the texturing workflow in blender. This is one of the key things that elevates most renders straight out of cad software like Fusion and makes them much more realistic

Inspiration

This whole channel is incredible and far beyond what I am capable of, look through in awe and you will find load of amazing bits of information.

The extent to which this blows my mind is hard to get across. most impressive work I have seen in geo nodes.
