About me¶
Hi! I am Elle Hahn and I am a sophmore in high school at Charlotte Latin. In the photo above I am the one on the left.
My background¶
I was born in Charlotte, North Carolina.
EginPrevious work¶
I have been interested in engineering since I was in 2nd grade. In 2nd grade, I begain going to an egineering camp at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. The engineering camp was for a full week where we would get a new project everyday to build and we had to finish by the end of the day.
The biggest thing that I learned from that camp is the Centroid of a foam plate air glider. The project was to use straws, beads, foam plates, and hot glue to make a device that would float above a big fan. The catch about the project is that you only had three tries to test the device. When building this we kept on running into the problem that the divice would tip to one side and when we added beads to the other side of it, it would then tip towards that way. I couldnt figure out how to make it even, and I only had one try left, until I decided to find the center point of the main plate. Once I did that, I balanced the divice on the tip of a pencil so I could see which side it leaning towards and then I added hot glue to the four wings until it stayed straight on the pencil tip. Then once I tested it, the device worked and I got a reward. This was in 3rd grade and thats when I knew that I wanted to be an engineer.
In 6th grade I came to Charlotte Latin and descovered the Fab Lab. In 6th grade I did Girls Who Code and then 7th grade I began engineering classes. I have been taking classes for engineering and computer programming ever since. And I have also been on the robotics team at Charlotte Latin in 7th grade as well.
