19. Invention, intellectual property and income¶
Audience¶
This project is for simulator entusiasts of all ages, who want to elevate their imersion in games. while it is a very limited scope the audience for something like this is still large. I hope the reduced cost to build somehting like this would make it a popular diy for Hobbyist and maybe be used in simulators for people learning to drive a car or semi. I think the demad for something like this is still big and after scowering the internet, it was very hard to find a minimalist, yet high quality button box for cheap.
Dissemination Plan¶
My project will be released under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike (CC BY-NC-SA) license. This license allows others to freely use, modify, and share the project for non-commercial purposes, while preserving credit to the original creator and encouraging community collaboration. I chose this license because it supports open access and learning, while preventing unauthorized commercial use. If I decide to turn the project into a product, I may adopt a dual-license model or develop a separate commercial version that can be sold while maintaining the original educational edition as free and open-source.
Future Possibilites¶
Since I plan on using this until I grow tired of driving (hopefully never) I 100% plan on add/ expanding features and quality of materials. Maybe in the future I might look to make this into an actual product. But future me might want to make the button configurations swapable and modular by using magnets to connect my inputs to the board. I might also want to make my button box out of a high quality material that plastic; like aluminum or maybe a wood. I have already looked into this a bit but I’ve played around with having a feature that is so addictive and satisfying to use that you cant stop touching it. An example of this would be when I saw a youtube video of a sound system a guy made for a final project in college with SUPER satisfying magnetic knobs that glided and snaped perfectly across a track. This made me so happy when I say it and I would eventually like to recreate that same feeling I felt but for my project.
