Our Lab’s Safety Training¶
Before we started working in the lab, we of course familiarized ourselves with the general safety rules. There is an official safety briefing on the door, which Pepper then read out to us again.
There are of course many things to consider in terms of safety, the most serious of which are documented here. A fire could break out, especially when laser cutting with cardboard. Before you start using the tough measures, there are many other measures available, but for the absolute worst case scenario, we have looked into the locations of the fire extinguishers in the laboratory. There are also fire safety regulations that must be observed, as well as alarm plans and instructions on fire prevention.
In Germany, the locations where fire extinguishers are to be installed are marked with the red symbol that can be seen in the picture. Depending on the equipment in the respective area, these are powder or CO2 extinguishers. At the location photographed here, in the middle of the first of two neighboring halls, there is also a defibrillator.
In case of immediate assistance for minor or major injuries, there is of course also a first aid kit in the FabLab in Bottrop.
