6. Electronics Design

Group assignment:

  • Use the test equipment in your lab to observe the operation of a microcontroller circuit board

1. Multimeter

  • Multimeter is a measuring instrument that is used to measure different electrical properties like resistance, voltage and current. This is also called a VOM or volt-ohm-milliammeter. This instrument plays a key role in finding the issues that occurred in the circuits so that we can easily troubleshoot the issues. Multimeter includes a rotary switch on the front panel, used to select different electrical parameters to measure electrical properties. These are classified into two types like analog and digital which are discussed below.

Using Multimeter

  • Measuring Voltage.

  • Measuring Resistance of resistor on Arduino.

2. Oscilloscope

An oscilloscope is an electronic test instrument that graphically displays varying voltages of one or more signals as a function of time. It is used for capturing information on electrical signals for debugging, analysis, or characterization

3. Function Generator

Function Generator is basically a signal generator that produces different types of waveforms at the output. It has the ability to produce waveforms such as sine wave, square wave, a triangular wave, sawtooth wave etc. An adjustable frequency range is provided by the function generator which is in the range of some Hz to several 100KHz.

  • Storage Environment: Indoor, Relative Humidity < 70%,Temperature: -10°C to 70°C
  • Bandwidth: 25MHz
  • Features: Sine, Square, Ramp, Pulse, Noise, standard waveforms

Using Function generator to generate different signals and visualizing the signals on Oscilloscope.

  • Generating square wave using Function Generator and displaying it on Oscilloscope.

  • Generating sine wave using Function Generator and displaying it on Oscilloscope.

  • Generating ramp signal using Function Generator and displaying it on Oscilloscope.

4. DC Power Supply

A DC power supply is a device that provides a constant Direct Current (DC) voltage to electrical devices. Unlike Alternating Current (AC), which periodically reverses direction, DC flows in one direction, making it ideal for devices that require stable and continuous power.

SPD3000X Series Linear Programmable DC Power Supply has a 4.3 inches TFT_LCD display, Supports Programmability and Real Time Wave Display, bringing a new experience to users. It has three isolated outputs: two adjustable channels and one selectable channel from 2.5V, 3.3V, and 5V. It also has output short and overload protect function, and can be used in production and development.
