Who am I ?
Hello,
Welcome to my page! My name is Francisco Ruz Quiroga. I am a civil engineer specialized in timber structures, with a strong interest in integrating innovative technologies into the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. My main focus is that these technologies increases productivity while, reduce costs, and use sustainable materials while designing safe and comfortable structures (which is my speciality ;))
I am from Chile but currently based in A Coruña, Spain. Here, I work as a junior researcher at UDC (Universidade da Coruña) in the department of Architectural, Civil, and Aeronautical Constructions and Structures, while carrying out a PhD in Architecture. The latter is particularly significant because much of the work I do during FabAcademy will aim to my doctoral thesis, which I explain in more detail on the final project page.
I believe the FabAcademy journey means a significant step to me, not just in my proffesional carreer but also on a personal level. I am determined to give my 100% so that, by the end of the course, I not only achieve a significant advance in my thesis with an incredible final project but also, but also become a time-management and project-documentation expert!
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you enjoy exploring my work!
Here’s a picture of me graduating from university in Jan 2024. A day when I closed one chapter of my life, never imagining that the next one would involve aboarding on such an incredible experience like FabAcademy.
