About
Who am I?
Hi, my name is Vera and I’m an educator in the field of art, design and tech and I love to make things especially together with people. I live in Elst in the Netherlands and I work at the HAN University of applied Sciences as a practical teacher at the FabLab Arnhem where I teach about working with our equipment, designing and making. Besides teaching I try my best to organize the FabLab together with my team. As a side job I’ve been working for a couple of years on “Makers on the Move” together with Merel and Midushi. Makers on the Move is a maker education organization and we have created a material library of waste materials from the City Arnhem and surroundings. With this material we think of maker education lessons, projects and kits for people to experience making. Together we create tools and fun activities like this.
I have a background in Art and Design education and I’ve always enjoyed combining artforms with craftsmanship and simple tech stuff like light and motors. Since I’ve started working at the Fablab I learned new skills and tools like 3D printing, 3D scanning and laser cutting. But I still have lots I want to learn about electronics, sensors building machines, designing and so on. I’m hoping the FabAcademy will be my start of a bigger journey of being able to understand how to ‘make almost anything’. And of course apply al the new knowledge in my work. In my free time a like to work on crafty things as well such as knitting, lino and painting.
