About Me¶
Hello! I am Tafia Sabila Khairunnisa, a multidisciplinary design researcher with strong interests in biodesign 🦠, material futures 🧱, and regenerative systems ♻️!
Background¶
I have an educational background in Architecture👷♀️ and working experience as UX/Design Researcher🕵️ for local startup companies in Indonesia.
For the past couple of years, I’ve been pursuing my interest in materiality and environmental sustainability. I do biomaterial explorations in my spare time and occasionally share some of them here. In 2020, I co-founded the Growing Plastic project, which aimed to repurpose banana peels waste as an alternative material to bubble wrap plastic.
Driven by environmental challenges 🌏 and drawn to everyday phenomena 🏘️, I have always been passionate about research and development to create sustainable yet accessible solutions for a better everyday life.✨
Current Work¶
Now, I serve as a local team member of Fab Lab Bali🏝️. Here, our mission is to democratize access to technological, environmental, and social innovation for local communities to propose and develop meaningful interventions that enrich, empower, and scale Bali’s emerging regenerative economy.
I am eager to contribute to this mission by leveraging the skills gained from the Fab Academy to develop a new solution to accelerate the biodesign and material futures landscape in Indonesia in a frugal and distributed way.
