Weekly Reflection
  • My individual contribution for machine design week is actuation. My biggest takeaway for this week’s assignment is that as I was working alot on Wokwi for the code simulation - I realise getting to work in the real thing should be done ASAP because things that work smoothly in simulation may not work as intended in real life. Ended up spending most of my time troubleshooting/debugging for this week!
  • Designing mechanical components will take couple of iterations. We can only know once tested. Was our prototype a success? Not really. As we tested, the position of the servo was abit too high up, causing the servo not having enough torque to completely push the CAM mechanism so the wire cutter will have a complete clean cut. We iterate by utilising elastic as a temporal solution but clean cuts come by randomly.
