This Week’s Task

  • group assignment: characterize your lasercutter’s focus, power, speed, rate, kerf, joint clearance and types
  • cut something on the vinylcutter
  • design, lasercut, and document a parametric construction kit, accounting for the lasercutter kerf, which can be assembled in multiple ways, and for extra credit include elements that aren’t flat

Weekly Reflections

  • Laser Cutting isn’t exactly new to me. I wouldn’t have had my master degree if it weren’t for the laser cutting machine. However, just merely using when compared to setting up and understanding the machine are different. I can use the laser cut…understanding kerf, adjusting toolhead are completely new concepts for me which makes me understand the laser cut more.
    • Vinyl Cutting is new!! Figuring out how to use the machine and to adapt to my intended design in 3 Hours before having to catch a flight was quite stressful tho.
