INVENTION, INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY & BUSINESS MODELS
Protecting innovations and planning for project dissemination
Key Concepts
Invention
An invention is an object, technique, or process that possesses novel and transformative characteristics. Some inventions represent innovative creations without precedent in science or technology that expand the boundaries of human knowledge.
Intellectual Property
A legal term for intangible creations of the mind, such as inventions, artistic and literary works, designs, and symbols, names, and images used in commerce. It protects the rights of creators and encourages innovation.
Business Models
An abstract representation of an organization, either textual or graphical, of all related concepts, financial agreements, and operational strategies that describe how a company creates, delivers, and captures value.
Dissemination Plan for Final Project
Project Origins
This project was born from a competition to improve my grade. It has been exciting in all its versions as I've built my own remote-controlled car from scratch, which is thrilling. The process of going from 0 to 100 is something I'm proud of.
Previously, I had built a car with Arduino and MDF wood, but it doesn't compare to a car built only with the help of teachers and classmates. I've spent much of my time solving unknowns to improve performance and the function my little car will fulfill in the battle royale competition.
Code Development
The code was taken from a program, edited by ChatGPT, and corrected by me, and everything has turned out very well. This iterative development process has been crucial in refining the functionality of the project.

Future Possibilities & Improvements
Technical Enhancements
To achieve better stability for the car, I'll need to adapt a better design based on my wheels. If I want it to be faster, I'll have to resize the design, remove some more infill, and increase the wheel gauge.
- Redesign chassis for better weight distribution
- Upgrade motor system for increased torque
- Implement wireless charging capability
- Add obstacle detection sensors
Commercial Potential
While currently a competition project, this design could evolve into a commercial product with the right modifications and business model.

Final Reflections
Key Learnings
- Understanding different types of intellectual property protection
- Importance of proper licensing for open source projects
- Developing a realistic dissemination plan
- Considering future improvements and commercialization potential
Challenges Faced
- Deciding on the appropriate license type
- Balancing openness with protection of my work
- Creating effective summary materials
- Planning for future improvements realistically
This week has been enlightening in understanding how to protect and share my work appropriately. Choosing the CC BY-NC license felt right for this stage of my project - it allows others to learn from and build upon my work while protecting my rights and preventing commercial exploitation without my permission.
The process of planning for dissemination and future improvements has helped me see my project not just as a school assignment, but as something that could potentially grow beyond the classroom. I'm excited to continue developing both the technical aspects and the broader impact of my work.
