Design and produce something with a digital process (incorporating computer-aided design and manufacturing) not covered in another assignment, documenting the requirements that your assignment meets, and including everything necessary to reproduce it.

Scratch Embroidery process with Brother Embroidery Pro Next.

Scratch is used to create the embroidery designs.

Scratch is a programming language developed for children, which allows them to create programs by combining visual blocks. It was developed at the MIT Media Lab and is primarily used for educational purposes. The interface is user-friendly and easy to understand for beginners. Through projects, children can develop logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity.

To create embroidery designs using Scratch, you need to add the embroidery extension.

  1. Press “Add Extension” from Left-down corner

Embroidery

Embroidery Machine in Fablab Kannai:Janome Hyper Craft 900

1.Save JEF file in USB Memory(EMB->EMBf folder)

The EMBf folder must be created by the embroidery machine. The folder will be created automatically by the following process:

1) Plug a USB memory into Machine  
2) ON the switch  
3) OFF the switch  
4) The folders are made

3.Embroider using Good Punch sheets and stabilizers

First, place the stabilizer in the embroidery hoop. Next, lay the Good Punch sheets on top the stabilizer, and then place the fabric on top of the Good Punch sheet. Secure the hoop in the machine, select the appropriate embroidery program, and start the embroidery process. Once completed, carefully remove the fabric and the Good Punch sheet from the stabilizer.

Embroidering from a design created with Scratch, a visual programming language, was an entirely new experience for me. It was a very educational assignment.
