While running a wholesale business for motorcycle parts, I also work as an agricultural supporter for the prefecture, growing vegetables. Most of what is taught at the FAB Academy is new to me, but I think my experience in system development within companies and maintaining motorcycles may be somewhat helpful. Initially, I was thinking of making a dry food maker to dehydrate vegetables and fruits, but as I attended the academy each week, I started wanting to make a racket sensor that I had wanted to create before. A racket sensor is a sensor attached to the tip of a tennis or badminton racket that can measure the swing speed and count the number of swings. In the future, I hope to link it to a smartphone app and apply it to other sports that involve swinging tools, such as baseball or golf.
Hi! My name is Hajime Ito. I am living in Yokohama, Japan. I started learning about agriculture 7 years ago. 3 years ago, I was certified as an agricultural trainee in Kanagawa Prefecture, and this year is my final year as a trainee. Initially, I started operations on a small, approximately 100 square meter field. Currently, I am renting a 1,000 square meter field from the prefecture, and are primarily cultivating root vegetables and wheat crops.
While the decrease in Japan's farming population is a concern for Japanese agriculture, I believe that efficiency improvements through IT are also important for solving problems. As a student of the FABAcademy, I want to develop things related to agriculture while keeping this connection in mind.
