Ok, hello guys! This week, we have to build a machine. Together we’ve decided to design and build a cat food dispenser. My contribution will be to model the dispenser, print it and assemble it. The rest of the documentation will be available on our group site, so don’t hesitate to check it out!

PART ONE : 3D design

  • open your modeling software and create a new sketch

the system is made up of different parts, so we’re going to model each part then assemble them to obtain, one single part, the dispenser

  • draw two circles then extrude them to obtain a hollow cylinder as shown in the image below

it’s in this room that the food will be received.

  • open another sketch and draw the part below

Coupled to a motor, this part will rotate to bring out the food for the animal.

  • open another sketch, then draw and model the following part:

This piece plays an essential role as it acts as the mother for all the other pieces. They all branch off from it.

  • Next, model the following intermediate parts

In fact, these feet will support the dispenser, made of 4 of the same type

This is where the food exits and falls into the animal’s bowl

this part will support the cylinder in which the food will be placed

  • Now that we have finished modelling each part, we assemble them and we should obtain something like the following
