Intellectual Property:

1. Content License:

  • Website Content: Select a Creative Commons license for the content on the MecaMate website. For example, a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) license allows others to remix, adapt, and build my work, even commercially, as long as they credit me and license their new creations under the identical terms.

2. Hardware License:

  • Open Source Hardware (OSHW): Consider using the OSHW definition which promotes the use of open-source principles for hardware. The CERN Open Hardware License (CERN OHL) is a good option for sharing hardware designs while ensuring that modifications and derivatives remain open.

3. Software License:

  • Open Source Software: Use licenses like the MIT License or the GNU General Public License (GPL) for software components. The MIT License is permissive, allowing others to use, copy, modify, and distribute the software with minimal restrictions. The GPL ensures that any derivative work must also be open-sourced under the same license.
