7. Computer controlled machining¶
This week I worked on cnc milling machine. And the only one assignement was Make something big !!! It will be fun.
Assignement requirements¶
Group assignment:
- do your lab’s safety training
- test runout, alignment, fixturing, speeds, feeds, materials, and toolpaths for your machine
Individual assignment:
- make (design+mill+assemble) something big (~meter-scale)
- extra credit: don’t use fasteners or glue
- extra credit: include curved surfaces

Group Assignement¶
Here you can fin the link to the group assignement.
Individual Assignement¶
First Step : Design my object¶
For the design part i use Fusion360. I worked on a parametric table which is adjustable as you want from any size.
Begin to setup my table parameters
My table is composed of three main part : the foot table, the support and the patterns. So i begin with the foot table and this is the sketch i made.
for the supoort this is the sketch. for the encoche I used the rectangular patterns to made it through the support to make them able to take the table patterns.

Assembly part¶
For the table assmebly i used tools like : Align, Symetrie and rectangular patterns and this is the results :

Second Step : Prepare the files for CNC¶
I used a fusion360 plugins to generate and easly export the .dxf files to make me able to setup the differents cut profiles with visualCAD 3D software. This is how I install and used the plugins : Save dxf for Laser cutting
Control geometry in order to generate
Third step : Machining¶
