17. Invention, intellectual property and income¶
As an industrial designer I had my contribution to do something else which would be innovation in any field. It will not necessarily be something completely new, but it will have uniqueness in itself.
What Is an Invention?
An invention is a new way to solve a technical problem. It’s like finding a fresh solution to something tricky.
Why Patents Matter:
Patents protect inventors. They let inventors control how their cool ideas are used commercially.
In order to protect your idea so that no one else can steal it, you can secure one of types of intellectual property (IP).
- Trademarks
- Patents
- Franchises
- Trade Secrets
- Copyrights
Licensing¶
I chose from licenses - The Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), which is popular for sharing creative works.
Under this license, others can use, distribute, remix, and build upon my kinetic chandelier design. They must give me attribution for the original work.
This license applies worldwide. It’s recognized in many countries and legal systems.
Dissemination Plan¶
For dissemination, I haven’t managed to think much yet. However, it is one of the most important parts of every project.
This project can be a good start for one of the projects of the chandelier manufacturing company. One of such very interesting and creative companies is a company of people I know - Dzzz Studio, which works with the design and production of chandeliers.
Since I combined light, dynamics, electronics and mechanisms in one place, it could be the beginning of a big direction/field for such companies. So I can offer my cooperation with them.
This is just one of the ideas. They are diverse. And I will still think about them.
