Week 5

I have used ChatGPT for generating the correct definationsof certain terms and then edited it accordingly. (Credit goes to AI!!)

Vocabulary

3D Printing:

  • 3D Printer: A machine that creates physical objects layer by layer from a digital model.

  • Filament: The material (often plastic) used for 3D printing. It’s like the “ink” for your 3D printer.

  • Build Plate: The surface where your 3D print is made. Think of it as the foundation for your creation.

  • Extruder: The part of the 3D printer that melts the filament and deposits it layer by layer.

  • Layer Height: How thick each layer of your 3D print is. Smaller layer height often means finer detail but longer print times.

  • Supports: Extra structures the printer adds to support overhanging parts of your print.

  • Infill: How solid or hollow the inside of your 3D print is. Higher infill means a more solid object.

3D Scanning:

  • 3D Scanner: A device that captures the shape and details of real-world objects and turns them into digital models.

  • LIDAR: A technology using lasers to measure distances accurately. Often used in 3D scanning for precise data.
