Summary

My final project was a take on the popular kid’s toy, the Etch A Sketch. Mine involved a wireless controller utilizing MQTT and operated on a much larger scale. In the main part, a gantry is installed into a CNC milled wooden box, along with a CNC shield with Arduino Uno to control it, and a Raspberry Pi to receive signals wirelessly. In the wireless controller, a Raspberry Pi Pico W wired to two encoders which the user turns as they would the knobs on an Etch A Sketch sends the readings from the potentiometers mapped to the scale of the gantry over MQTT.
