My final project will shoot a frisbee out for someone to catch, preferably around 15 feet.

  1. What will you design?

I will design a frisbee launcher from scratch that conveys my knowledge of all my fab skills

  1. What materials and components will be used?

The materials I plan to use are 1/2 in. plywood, 3D printed parts, heat set inserts, bolts, Laser cut 1/8 in. wood, Wheel Material,PCB board, PCB components such as a RP2040, indicator LED + resistor, and more.

  1. Where will they come from?

Most of these part can be acquired from the lab or fabricated but some parts such as the big sheet of plywood and wheel material had to be bought.

  1. How much will they cost?

Due to the Lab having a lot of the supplies as well as being able to fabricate pieces, the relative of my project is low. However, the wheel costs due to experimentation costs are currently around $60 which I am fronting myself because I chose trial and error. The cost of the plywood was covered by the lab in week 7 but I believe it was around $20 per sheet and I used one sheet. In total, predicting future costs, I believe that this project will cost around a total of $100.

  1. What parts and systems will be made?

There are 3-4 main systems I plan to make. The first system I plan to make is the Motor and Wheel system which would connects to the frame parts. Another system that I plan to implement are the legs of the launcher which will be able to slide and flip.

  1. What processes will be used?

The processes I will use are CAM design, CAD design, 3D Slicing, Arduino IDE, and more.

  1. What questions need to be answered?

The biggest questions to be answer are the motor and the wheel. For the motor, I need to learn what RPM, Torque, and control type is best for my situation. The wheel problem requires a wheel that is strong, low weight, and has good grip.

  1. How will it be evaluated?

The successfulness of the launcher will be evaluated by its exterior look and the distance it shoots.
