Week 15 - Wildcard Week - Embroidery

Solo Assignment

This week, our goal was to learn how to embroider using the Brother SE600. I decided to embroider my CK logo onto a test piece of fabric. Before you can even start to touch the machine, watch these 2 videos. How to wind a Bobbin , How to use the machine

Creating the file

The first way to make the file I tried was to use inksketch, an inkscape extension. This extension allows one to take an SVG and convert it into stitches for the machine to create. This program worked fine but I messed with some parameters that I think were the cause of some failed embroiders.

My teacher then advised me about an app called SewArt. I download it Here and opened the app.

After in the app, I followed Katie Chai's Documentation but I'll do a quick overview of what to do.

Issues with embroidering

Wrong Foot

Make sure that you embroider ith the foot that is circular and not the rectangular ski one. The circle foot is called an embroidery foot and the rectangular ski foot is called a sowing foot. Because we didn't realize we had the wrong foot on, we spent more than 2 hours suffering with messes of string

Reflection

This week, despite making me want to cry, was pretty cool because I learned how to embroider any image I want onto fabric. I am now super exited to embroider much more in the future because it looks so good.
