Sangay Dorji¶
Greetings! I’m Sangay Dorji, participating in FabAcademy2024 from Bhutan. I bring with me a Bachelor’s degree in Automobile Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University in India. Currently, I am actively engaged in the dynamic world of innovation at Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck Super Fab Lab.
My academic journey equipped me with a solid foundation in automobile technologies, but my true passion lies in the intersection of engineering and degital fabrication. Working at the Super Fab Lab has been an incredible journey, where I’ve had the opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies, collaborate on diverse projects, and contribute to the creation of innovative solutions. The world of digital fabrication has always fascinated me, and my experiences at the Super Fab Lab have fueled my desire to delve deeper into this realm. The Fab Academy, renowned for its immersive and hands-on approach, is the natural next step for someone like me who thrives on challenges and believes in the power of making.
Joining the Fab Academy is not just a career move for me; it’s a step towards realizing my vision of becoming a proficient digital fabricator. I am excited about the prospect of learning from the global network of experts, collaborating with peers from diverse backgrounds, and gaining the skills needed to contribute meaningfully to the field.
My Leisure pursuit¶
I have a diverse set of interests that keeps my life balanced and exciting. On one hand, I am drawn to the serene beauty of nature and the thrill of adventure. Trekking, particularly visiting Tsho1 is a passion that allows me to immerse myself in the breathtaking landscapes and pursuit that involves physical fitness, exploration, and an appreciation for the tranquility of lakeside environments.
On the other hand, when I’m not exploring the great outdoors, I find joy and excitement in the virtual realm of gaming. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang2 is my game of choice, where I embark on thrilling virtual battles, strategizing and collaborating with teammates to achieve victory.
I’m also a football enthusiast. Twice a month, I hit the field for a game with friends. There’s something about the teamwork and competition that I really enjoy. And when I’m not playing, I’m watching football, especially the English Premier League. Cheering for my favorite teams and witnessing amazing plays is something I look forward to.
Fab Academy Student Agreement¶
The Fab Academy is responsible for:¶
- Teaching principles and practices of digital fabrication
- Arranging lectures, recitations, meetings, and events for the class
- Evaluating and providing feedback on student work
- Offering clear standards for completing assignments
- Certifying and archiving student progress
- Supervising class preparation
- Reviewing prospective students, instructors, and labs
- Providing central staff and infrastructure for students,
- instructors, and labs
- Fund-raising for costs not covered by student tuition
- Managing and reporting on the program’s finances, results, and impacts
- Publicizing the program
- Promoting a respectful environment free of harassment and discrimination
- Encourage a diverse, accessible, and equitable community
I am a Fab Academy student, responsible for:¶
- Attending class lectures and participating in reviews
- Developing and documenting projects assigned to introduce and demonstrate skills
- Allowing the Fab Academy to share my work (with attribution) in the class for purposes compatible with its mission
- Honestly reporting on my work, and appropriately attributing the work of others (both human and machine)
- Working safely
- Leaving workspaces in the same (or better) condition than I found them
- Participating in the upkeep of my lab
- Ensuring that my tuition for local and central class costs is covered
- Following locally applicable health and safety guidance
- Promoting a respectful environment free of harassment and discrimination
