Assembly and Demonstration¶
Cardboard Prototype in Just half hour¶
- To understand my door butler project better, I decided to create a simple version using cardboard and basic tools like scissors and tape. I gave myself half hour to do this.
- For the prototype, I divided it into two parts: one for outside the door and one for inside.
- For the outdoor part, I thought about including a small camera that can sense motion, a colored light to show different messages, a speaker to give instructions like “please wave your hand”, ultrasonic sensors to detect approaching objects and importantly, a custom-made board to control everything.
- The indoor part was simpler. It just needed a regular doorbell, a device to make it work when someone’s outside, and a way to connect wirelessly, like through Bluetooth.
- By putting these parts together, I hoped to make a doorbell that’s easy to use without actually touching it, making life a little more convenient for everyone.
Manufacturing and Assembly¶
I designed and manufactured the following parts:
- Bottom Part: 3D printed to hold the PCB securely.
- Middle Parts: Created using laser-cut 3mm plywood with finger joints for easy assembly and then painting to look it better.
- Top Part: 3D printed which includes designated spaces for mounting a speaker, ultrasonic sensor, LED, and camera.
- And finally, I pasted stickers where I got design from google source using vinyl cutting machine to looks better aesthetically.
