16. Wild Card Week

Requirements

  • Use a machine that you haven't work with in previous projects.

  • For the Wild Card project I made a hero miniature figure. I made this miniature by using the website Hero Forge.

The character I made is a frog with a top hat and a suit.

After making the miniature I downloaded the design into a Stl. I then opened up a website called Preform to set up the print.

I then uploaded the design on Preform. As shown above the design being generating support.

As the design was generated a little screen pops up showing when to print the design to the SLA 3d printer. From there I picked which printer I use in the labe and made sure the settings are right.

After uploading the design file to the printer I pressed the start button to begin the printing of the design. The print usually takes six hours to have the print ready.

After waiting six hours I opened up the Sla printer. I then got the minitaure out of the printer.

As you can see in the image above the design had printed nicely and was on the platform in the printer.

I then unattach the platform off the printer to remove the design of the platform.

When the design was removed from the platform I put the design into the resin machine. This helps by making sure the design is clean and cured. It usually takes twenty minutes for the design to be fully cured.

Here is a better view of how the design is being cured in the liquid machine.

After the twenty minutes I took out the design from the liquid machine. After that I put the design into the heater machine to be heated solid.

As it was set I clicked to start the heating process. It gradually changes the temperature to 60c'. It takes a long time to change to that temperature then a few minutes to sit through the heat.

After the design was heated and cured I clipped off the back and connecting parts till it was just the miniature figure.
