project development
WEEK - 18
The objective of this week update the progress of the final project and answer some questions
The kanban board
- this is the kanban board that i made for this project
- inside the board- Electronics
- mecanum wheel
what tasks have been completed?
- the deign of the mecanum wheel is completed
- 3d printed it
- assembled, the wheel is working
- A minor adjustment may be necessary in the tolerances, which may require reprinting.
- design of the PCB has started, schematic is completed
What tasks remain?
- fabrication of the PCB
- fabrication of outer frame, 3D printing and laser cutting
- design of lifting mechanism
- assembly of the whole bot
- programming, debugging
what has worked?
- the movement of the mecanum wheel were not as smooth as expected, it was easily solved solved by changing some tolerances
what hasn't?
- to use metal sheet as chassis, it would increase the weight, the material we had in the lab is thicker than i needed, so i am planning to switch to laser cutting acrylic sheet.
what questions need to be resolved?
- how much weight can it lift
- controlling the bot, mobile app or ps3 controller
- how to fit a whole mechanism to a confined area inside the bot
what will happen when?

what have you learned?
Learning about electronics has been the most challenging of my engineering journey, mainly because I had no prior experience in this area, and the way they teach that in the collage but after joining fab-academy i had hands on experience with that, failing many times, being frustrated of routing the PCB, burning resisters, capacitors, i was learning from my mistakes
my project work and participation in the Fab Academy have helped me gain a better understanding of micro-controllers and other electronic components, more over our instructors joijn and Saheen where very helpful in fixing my mistakes and teaching me in more meaningful way, they were available 24 /7.
During my journey in the Fab Academy, I came to appreciate the importance of documentation, which I previously underestimated. I now know how essential it is to document my work and progress accurately, I hope this habit will be a part of my for life.
