Dissemination of my final project: Butterfly traveler¶
The primary objective of my project is to explore the dynamic interplay between art and technology. The art installation serves as the initial step towards a larger endeavor, involving the creation of various moving sculptures. These interactive artworks have the potential to adorn not only the premises of the Fab Lab and the affiliated school but also find a place in other settings such as city parks, private hotels, and other spaces where such sculptures would be welcomed.
Considering the scope of this vision, I believe it is crucial for our Fab Lab to develop capabilities in working with metal. This material offers durability and resilience, making it ideal for constructing long-lasting sculptures. Additionally, these living sculptures can also be realized using techniques like 3D printing, utilizing materials such as acrylic and recycled resources. By expanding our proficiency to encompass a range of materials and technologies, we can bring forth a diverse array of captivating and environmentally conscious art installations, enriching public spaces and engaging audiences in new and exciting ways.
The prospect of collaborating with other Fab Labs from different countries is an exciting opportunity. By forging partnerships with like-minded creative communities, we can foster cross-cultural exchanges and inspire artistic collaborations. My earnest desire is that my work serves as an inspiration for fellow artists, encouraging them to embrace technology without fear and infuse their creative endeavors with newfound experiences and possibilities.
To effectively share and promote my work, I have devised a multifaceted strategy. Firstly, I intend to collaborate with local galleries to showcase my art installations and engage with the local art community. This will help create awareness and generate interest in my work within the immediate vicinity. Additionally, I plan to leverage international platforms such as Behance, which can provide broader exposure and reach a global audience. Through these avenues, I aim to connect with art enthusiasts, curators, and potential collaborators worldwide, fostering an appreciation for the fusion of art and technology.
By actively engaging with diverse audiences and platforms, both locally and globally, I aspire to create a lasting impact and contribute to the evolution of art in the contemporary technological landscape.
Licensing and registration of intellectual property¶
Armenia has an Intellectual Property Office where individuals can register their new inventions and creations. However, it is worth noting that the field of intellectual property in Armenia is still in its early stages of development, and there are certain gaps in the existing laws and regulations. Nevertheless, I remain optimistic that as the demand for intellectual property protection grows and with continued efforts towards improvement, this sphere will gradually develop and function more effectively.
It is essential for a robust intellectual property framework to be in place, as it provides creators with the necessary legal protection and encourages innovation and creativity. With the evolving landscape of technology and artistic expression, it becomes increasingly important to address these gaps and ensure that creators’ rights are safeguarded. By fostering a supportive environment for intellectual property rights and implementing comprehensive laws, Armenia can cultivate a culture of innovation, attract investment, and stimulate the growth of its creative industries.
Patent vs Copyright¶
I have considered two primary methods for protecting my creation: patent and copyright.
A patent is an intellectual property right granted to inventors, providing exclusive rights to their inventions. It offers legal protection for novel and non-obvious inventions, granting the inventor the sole right to produce, use, or sell their invention for a specified period. By obtaining a patent for my creation, I can prevent others from utilizing or profiting from my invention without my permission, thus safeguarding its commercial value.
On the other hand, copyright protects original works of authorship, including artistic, literary, and creative expressions. This form of protection is automatic and applies to various forms of artistic and creative works, such as music, literature, paintings, and sculptures. By acquiring copyright for my creation, I can assert my rights as the creator, controlling how it is reproduced, distributed, and displayed, and preventing unauthorized use or copying.
While patent protection is more commonly associated with technological inventions, copyright is often utilized for artistic and creative works.
For my creation, I consider copyright protection to be of utmost importance. However, to ensure certainty, it is essential to consult with legal professionals and intellectual property experts to determine the most appropriate and effective strategy for safeguarding my work.
