About¶
My name is Zack Budzichowski, and I’m part of the Innovation and Design Group at Charlotte Latin School. I help maintain and run the FabLab and teach 8th grade engineering while also assisting students of all grades with their projects. I’m looking forward to Fab Academy to improve my digital fabrication skills and working with the worldwide Fab Academy network
Background¶
I graduated from Irmo High School in Columbia, SC. After high school, I attended the University of Notre Dame and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering. After undergraduate, I spent two years teaching high school math and science at Resurrection Catholic School in Pascagoula, Mississippi as part of the Alliance for Catholic Education, through the University of Notre Dame. As part of the teaching program, I earned a Masters of Art in Teaching from the University of Portland. After teaching, I spent five years in Detroit as an automotive engineer working for a Tier 1 supplier working on various GM and Chrysler vehicle launches on fuel, brake and HVAC systems. I finished up my time in Detroit as a research and development engineer before moving to Charlotte. I spent eighteen years as an active and involved stay at home parent for my four children while coaching lots of sports, serving on PTO Boards, working on Talent Shows and spending six years as the head coach of various school based Science Olympiad teams. The enjoyment from all these activities, especially, Science Olympiad, is what lead me back to the classroom for the past three years.
