About Me¶
Hi! My name is Dylan Ferro, and I am in the class of 2025 at Charlotte Latin School in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have lived in Charlotte my whole life and have attended Charlotte Latin since kindergarten at age five. Over the years at Latin, I have taken seven different engineering classes. My interest in engineering began when I attended the Young Engineers of Today camps, hosted by Latin, at the age of six. Over time, I’ve discovered a strong aptitude for mechanical engineering, likely stemming from my love of Legos when I was younger.
I have experience using various CNC machines, such as milling machines, ShopBot, vinyl cutters, laser cutters, 3D printers, and resin printers. Additionally, I am skilled in soldering and have some programming experience. Another strength of mine is digital design with CAD, particularly in Fusion 360, which I primarily learned through YouTube tutorials by Product Design Online. I’ve also taken welding classes with CPCC.
Some of my past projects include building an RC car from scratch with 3D-printed parts, creating an automatic pet feeder, and designing a word clock.
