17. Invention, Intellectual Property and Income¶
This week we met with the head of our Buisiness department C.C Chapmen to work on our posters and learn about licensing our products.
Group Work¶
This week we worked with C.C. Chapmen to learn about licensing and poster design drafts with additional feedback.
Licensing¶
The Creative Commons site is incredible. The utility and ease of their liscensing process is wonderfully simple it’s filled with a series of Yes no questions that walk you through what kind of license you would need for your product.
The process will actively change your recommended liscense throughout the information gathering process which is a really good way to learn about alternative liscenses for potential future use. I filled everything out and was given the recommendation of the Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International liscense. With that in mind I simply just had to fill out the information pertaining to my product including the name and link to the work in addition to the my name and the link to my information. On the right hand of the screen I was also given helpful information on marking my work with my license.
Dissemination Plan¶
This project had started due to complete nonesense I wasn’t even thinking about serious project ideas trying to lean into something more casual and fun. It eventually hit to mix a slot machine with exercise two things people actively participate in. To start my research in the potential future of this product I would start by going to the local gym on my campus and have people, starting with my friends interact with the slot machine aspect to recieve a random exercise. The average gym patron is my target audience so getting feedback from them would be incredibly helpful.
The Exercise Jackpot itself is rather laid-back in concept looking more towards fun than anything else. I would ideally use the feedback given to advertise to a low intensity gym such as Planet Fitness. I would propose the idea to be something of novelty to draw people into their establishment. It would be seen as something fun to do at the gym potentially being a motivator for some people who aren’t sure what to do at the gym.
After getting into contact with one of these gyms and ideally getting approval for putting my product in their establishment. With the approval I would change the aesthetics of the Exercise Jackpot to more closely fit that of the gym. After some time I would take the feedback from the gym and alter parts of the machine to continue to keep things fresh perhaps by implimenting something like holiday themed workouts.
Poster¶
I ended up having the idea of making a poster that imitates a low quality infomercial. The first two drafts are what I completed within the class.
This one is the final poster I ended up using for the final.
Additionally here’s the final video I used for my presentation:
