6. 3D Scanning and printing¶
This week I had to use the 3d printer to print something that couldn’t be made subtractively.Subtractive manufacturing is when you take something away from an object to create something (ie the vinyl cutter). Additive manufacturing is when you build something layer by layer (ie 3d printing). I also had to scan an object with my phone.
Group Project¶
For the group project this week we had to learn how to use the 3d printer and did some tests of it. From the test I leared the different in fills that you can use with 3d printing and that you can do overhangs without supports,
Project¶
This week I decided to mess around with the form tool in fusion 360. The form tool is tool in fusion 360 that allows you to mold and sculpt objects

I decided to make a duck because why not
To make the duck something that could not be made subtractively I printed it in 3 different colors, which makes it something that can only be done addtitively because you have to combine the three colors into one object.
Scanning¶
I found a scanning app called Polycam that works really well, but i couldn’t get any of my scans out of the app without paying for it.
