Intellectual Property Rights

Objective

Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project.
Prepare drafts of your summary slide and video clip and put them in your root directory

Introduction

It was the IPR week we were briefed about intellectual property rights and were taugh the ways we can protect our ideas and inventions if we would like to commercialise it.
This week were instructed to create a slide and a video to be uploaded on to the root directory and create a plan for the final project untill the presentation.

Crazy Final Project Plan

Week:-8/6/2022 - 15/6/2022
8/6/2022 - I worked on the electronics and tested the components everything seems fine today.
9/6/2022 - Design work for packaging is going give my second prototype for 3D print other things in packaging like laser cutting to be done.
10/6/2022- Laser cutting, packaging and routing to be done with 90% systen integration.
11/6/2022- Video time test and create content for the video.
12/6/2022- Edit the video and get a trialer out for Q&A, complete the video
13/6/2022- Probably get things ready before the presentation push the slide and video.
14/6/2022- Panic attack! have you script ready, the main points needed to be explained, practice infront of the mirror.
15/6/2022- Present the final project and give the best leave rest to god.
16/6/2022- Get things together and finish your documentation.

Possibilities and Probabilities

The Dome dryer is already a product that Vigyan Ashram sells to its customers and I just took up a task to automate the airflow system this stays inline of an improved version of the product.
The decision to take my project main stream is upto Vigyan Ashram but there are infinite possibilities, there is just a slight probability that Vigyan ashram might use the technology that I developed on their product anyways.
On the otherhand I got to learn how to perform system integration. The possibility in future for me is that I would be implementing this in my company soon.
The project I worked on will be reporposed at my office for usefull tasks like AQI and Air Conditioning and this seems to be a possibility in future at our new facility.

Draft Slide and video

For the draft slide I'm using a software called keynotes the side is in 1080p resolution and I'm planning something that looks good.
I'm attching the slide below for reference and as the checklist suggests.

slide

The video is still in works and will be updated before the project presentaion.

IPR

IPR- Intellectual Property Right is a method or means by which a person is granted exclusivity of his/her own idea. It protects the idea or an invention from being copied or reproduced through illegitimate means. IPR come in various forms some are listed below.
Patents
Trademarks
Copyrights

Patent

Patents – A Patent is something that grants rights exclusive to the inventor it is in place to protect the inventions of an inventor.
Patents can be granted of two major types
1. Patents can be granted on the basis of the invention/idea.
2. Patents can be granted on the basis of method of production of an invention/idea.
Patents granted on the basis of invention
This part is pretty straight forward here the inventor has some new idea for which he/she seeks protection therefore a patent is granted to the inventor to protect his/her idea.
Eg:- Invention of the light bulb
Patent granted on the basis of method of production
Here an idea is in place to develop a product but the method via which it is going to be produced can be patented.
Eg:- Generic Drug Pharmaceuticals
Every Pharmaceutical creates “Paracetamol” but have different processes to produce the same drug this method of production and development is patented to grant protection to the process.

In India a IPR related queries are handled by the Ministry of commerce and Industry. To be more specific the department for promotion of industry and internal trade handles patents and other IPR related activities.
The weblink for the same is provided here.

Copyrights

A Copyright is a means of protection granted to the owner or inventor where they gain an exclusive right of copying the given product.
Eg:- Harry Potter is published by Bloomsburry because the publishing company has an exclusive copyright agreement with the author J.K Rowling and no other publishing company can print the book and sell them because of copyright protection.
The term fair-usage is always bolstered in a copyright clause which grants protection of the IPR.

License

There are different type of licenses that are used to protect the work of the creator since the course is mainly focused on open-source projects we would talk about creative commons.

Creative Commons is a license that allows you to share your work to the world seamlessly. There are different types of creative commons licenses.
The types could be found here.
Here I would be explaining about the type og license that I chose please click above if you would like to explore other options.
The license that I chose was a Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International
The icon or badging of the license is given below.
Creative Commons License
The license allows me to share my work but restricts it from commerical use. This is important as for me fabspace is a project where I can tinker and create something new I would like to share my work that never want to monetize or use it for commercial purposes.

Above is an image showing the page to create a creative commons license.

Trademark

Trademarks are logo that are used by an entity to carry out business or fulfill a purpose.
Eg:- Amazon
Amazon’s Trademark cannot me copied any other entity because they use their trademark for business purposes and sell other services. Copy someones trademark can infringe IPR.

Dissemination Plan

As mentioned before The Dome Dryer is a product that was developed at Vigyan Ashram by DIC (Design Innovation Centre).
The primary objective of this product is to speed up the drying process of the substrate that is being used.
Vigyan Ashram already sells a couple of these on an order basis. My project will be marketed as an added feature to the existing product.
Vigyan Ashram will be responsible for marketing the product, the process will be carried out through word of mouth or via digital marketing.
The audience we are targeting are small business owners and other cottage industries that are in the business of packaged dry-fruits and spices.
The project is Free and open-source people are free to implement the project if needed.
The project is self funded by Vigyan Ashram and the future business plans for the same in terms of expanding and scaling are upon Vigyan Ashram.
