Applications and Implications
This week I worked on defining my final project and answering questions related to the Final Project and its application. The assignemtn for the week is as follows:
What will it do?
Wind tunnel will be used to test the performance of scalled aircraft model. To test the airodynamic property of objects such as aircraft, car, house model, etc
Who's done what beforehand?
There are different kind of wind tunnel according to several factors like size, airflow, airspeed. Wind tunnel has been made several times by different organisation like university instutions, NASA, etch. I followed the guide lines of NASA for the understanding. guide
What will you design?
The structure/chassis will be designed in SolidWorks. With the help of SolidWorks, I will design the structure/chassis as well as simulation the flow. I will make animation or working prenciple with Blender or Cinema 4D software. The controller, I will use arduino software IDE
What materials and components will be used?
Material of the main structure will be 18mm MDF. I will also use machine screw as fasteners. Table below show breif description of material, quantinty, price, origin.
What parts and systems will be made?
- Motor control circuit with motor driver.
- Structure parts of wind tunnel will be cut with CNC machine in MDF.
- Design will be made in SolidWorks
How will it be evaluated?
The main purpose of the project is to design and a wind tunnel machine that can be used to test the aerodynamic properties and performance of objects such as aircraft, car, etch.
To evalute the machine, the load cell should be able to measure the force actinng on th eonject and data should be displayed and stored on the pc for further analysis.
Next; with fog machine, I trajectory of fluid arround the object (tested) should be determined so that the performance can be optimised.
