20. Project development¶
This week I worked on developing my final project based on the master piece of Application and Implications assignment and if you wish you may look at it.

Final Project Concept¶
My idea is to implement a smart door lock system which will only allow authenticated persons to open it and with the help of my project you can also remotely monitor your door lock from any where in the world using your phone(Iphone and Android device)and to open the door lock permission should be granted by the admin who is the owner of the home, office, lab, gadget,.. where my smart lock should be applied. Main electronic devices to be used are 1 Node MCU ESP 8266, 1RFID MF-RC-522 Module, 1Relay module, 1Solenoid lock, and a Blynk IOT platform.
Below is my project sketch
Final Project Process¶
As my project is an electronic based project, I start on designning and producing electronic parts of it and mechanical parts come after.
1. Electronics parts¶
a. Electronics design¶
-I have designed electronic(PCB) in kicad to connect my lock system and milled it on SRM-20 Roland machine to produce this electronic, solder it, program it, and test to see if it works as follow:
Below is the schematic design of smart door lock system
PCB generated for smart door lock system
3D view for smart door lock system
FCu traces for smart lock system
EdgeCut for smart lock system
b. Electronics production¶
The prodeuce RML files was milled by SRM-20 Roland machine; I have used a small material to cut on my PCB and Below is the produced borad with some route cutted off and some short-circuit.
Below, I was soldering a new produced PCB

2. Mechanical parts¶
b. Mechanical parts design¶
On designing mechanical parts, I have satarted on designing a simple wall and door and I assembled them using the door hinge which I was designed on 3D printing assignment as you can see below
Now, it’s time to design the house box for my project, I have design a box in form of a house with a door in solidworks and below, is the box house not yet completed
Below is my door hingede signed in solidworks
3D printed in 3D printing assignment door hinge
Below are laser cutted parts of my house box using our local fablab cutting machine.
Below, I was assembling my house box.
After putting on my solenoid lock as you can see below.
Below, is the produced house box as you can see I have used a door hinge given by my local instructor because mine which was 3D printed is too big compare to my box house door.
