18. Wildcard week¶
Assignment:
Design and produce something with a digital fabrication process (incorporating computer-aided design and manufacturing) not covered in another assignment, documenting the requirements that your assignment meets, and including everything necessary to reproduce it. Possibilities include(but are not limited to):
Designing
For this week i have chosen to work with composite in creating plant pot container using cardboards. I made design using solidworks software.
I started designing bottom of the plant pot with a diameter of 80mm. the shape is in form of hexagon with side of 40mm.
I designed the middle part for which the hexagon shaped plant pot with the outer diameter 80mm and side length of 40mm.
I designed top of the hexagon shaped plant pot with a diameter of 80mm with side of 40mm and inner circle of 20mm .
After designing i exported the design in coreIDrawer software to command Laser cutter for printing them.
For printing these parts i made some adjustment on settings mainly(speed, frequency, length of cardboad) of the lasser cutter because i was going to print on a cardboard.
Below is how parts were printed are in laser cutter.
Below is how parts were printed are out of laser cutter.
Below i assembled all parts before composite.
I mixed the resin with a weight ratio of Epoxy to Hardener i used 2 :1 ratio.
Below i measured 200 grams of Epoxy to 100 grams of Hardener to match the ratio described.
this is material i used in my composite. it was not good fablric becouse of the small diameter of the plant pot
After measuring, i mixed the solutios with stick before getting dry
Below i have to put mixed solution to cardboards i cut to start coating.
After applying the mixed solution i have to wait 24hrs for the composite solution get dry and harden.
The final result was not real plant pot i wanted due to small size of the cardboad i cut in Laser cutter. But this i made symbolises the origin plant pot with vegetable inside.
MY FILES
Here i am uploading the files that i have been making.
