Final project proposal¶
The problem¶
The idea for the project comes from the simply routine of watering the plants at home. I love having plants at home, but I don’t like taking care of them. Many people may feel identified with this situation: people who love having plants at home but do not like taking care of them, maybe because they forget about them, or because they travel a lot and can’t take care of them.
The solution¶
My project would consist in the creation of a device able to measure the plants’ necessities, so in case of needing water, the device would provide the plant with it so nobody has to take care of it.
1º Idea¶
When I told Nuria about my idea, she agreed, but said it may be too easy. Besides, she said I should research if this project had been previously carried out by another student from the fabacademy.
Browsing the fabacademy web page to see if there were any projects related with the plants’ care, I came across some which I found interesting. In this moment I realized that I could carry out a more complete project, since my initial idea could be too easy.
2º Idea¶
I continued thinking how to develop my project a bit further, and I came across with the idea of my project being a plant pot: a common plant pot which would integrate all the necessary technology to autonomously take care of the plant.
I explained my second idea to Nuria and she found it more interesting, so I decided to continue developing my idea of an intelligent plant pot.
3º Idea¶
After modeling the second idea in more detail, I found the way in which the water tank would be filled very uncomfortable. So I decided to change the design to one in which filling the tank would be easier for the user without having to disassemble anything.
