5. Electronics production¶
▶ Group assignment ✌¶
- Characterize the design rules for your in-house PCB production process: document feeds, speeds, plunge rate, depth of cut (traces and outline) and tooling.
I milled some test files by different Settings and different cut tools.
First downloaded the .pngs files .
Then I import the files in MODS, I configured the different options and saved the file.
- Trace
Using (1/64) Cut tool
X = 0(mm)
Y = 0(mm)
Z = 0(mm)
Zjopg = 12
- Outline
Using (1/32) Cut tool
X = 0(mm)
Y = 0(mm)
Z = 0(mm)
Zjopg = 12
Then Send the files to the milling machine by following the same steps I explain in the individual assignment, send and cut the trace, and then cut the outline as you see The first experiment was a complete failure, a mistake in the depth of the cutting and the problem not from the MODs it’s coming from the Z axis setup when I move the Z axis I did not loose it and drop the cut tool to touch the board I’m only moving it by Vpane, another mistake is when I choosing the cutting tool it should be 1/64 but I use 1/32.
I try it again and this time I Set the Z axis very well and I use the correct cutting tool for trace I use 1/64 and for outline cut 1/32, the drilling is excellent there is some scratch because I’m using an old board I running out of my PCB board, but there is a problem with outline cutting I think because the board don’t stick to the panel very well
here is another problem I broke the cutting tool and it’s stuck inside the machine, it took a lot of time to get it out and replace it with a new one. after I tried too many tools to get it out,finally it’s out after I’m using the tweezers it is the hero,
the reason of broke is because when I try to move the Z axis by using the arrow from the Vpanel I make the cursor step in continue mode and its go down very fast so the cutting tool broke and stuck
