Final Project Requirements

Document a capstone project masterpiece that integrates the range of units covered, answering:
What are you doing?
My piggy bank, teaches the little ones to save, and helps to encourage the culture of saving
Who has done what beforehand?
I think no one, there are smart piggy banks, but this is a fusion of a piggy bank that asks you to save yes or yes...
What did you design?
A smart piggy bank, in the shape of a pig
What materials and components were used?
Pla, sound module, alarm module, SD memory, led lights, sensors, battery module, among others
Where do they come from?
The materials are provided by the Fab Lab Esan node where I am located at IES Huando.
How much did they cost?
I did not buy any material, therefore there was no quote for the parts
What parts and systems were manufactured?
All the complete prototype
What processes were used?
3D printing: I designed on tinkercard and used the 3D printer. Plate Design: I designed in Eagle and use the Roland Modela MDX-20 milling machine, to create the plate Programming: I used Arduino IDE
What questions were answered?
Varies questions are answered, depending on the material. It took a lot of time, several tests, several changes and hours of printing, but it was worth it when everything worked out for my piggy bank. Board design and programming.
What worked? No?
The design and printing in PLA filament have worked well. I had problems with programming and electronics since it is not my forte
How was it evaluated?
Carrying out the test and testing the prototype
What are the implications?
You can see the whole process and more details on this page dedicated to my final project here: FINAL PROJECT

Final Project Compliance

To meet the Fab Academy requirements, my final project includes:

  • Presentation Slide: A 1920x1080 (PNG) slide summarizing the project's name, function, and my name.
  • Video Clip: A 1-minute (MP4) video demonstrating the lamp's movement and Bluetooth control.
  • ReadMe & BOM: A detailed README.md file and Bill of Materials in the final-project folder of my repository.
  • Source Files: All design files are organized and accessible for replication.

The project successfully integrated: 2D/3D design, additive/subtractive manufacturing, electronics production, embedded programming, and networking.

Assignment Requirements

  • Completed the final project
  • Documented the project in detail
  • Included a hero shot/video of the final project
  • Included all design files and code

These requirements are based on the Fab Academy 2026 assessment criteria.
