4. Computer controlled cutting¶
In this fourth week we have learned design topics for the use of the following machines: Laser Cutter and Vinyl Cutter.
Next I will describe the function of each piece of equipment to know its handling and the purpose of its use in this class.
LASER CUTTER¶
The Laser Machine is a piece of equipment that works by means of CO2 gas and other compressed chemicals that are stimulated by electricity, to generate the laser with which you can cut or engrave various materials such as acrylic materialtriplay, durolac, etc.
With a laser cutter it is possible to engrave, mark, cut and dot any type of vectorized image. The cut through the laser beam hits the surface of the material and heats it so strongly that it melts or completely vaporizes. Once the laser beam has fully penetrated a point on the material, the actual cutting process begins.
VINYL CUTTER¶
The vinyl cutting machine is widely used to create a large number of stickers, decorative bands and even more complex designs. They are even used to cut protective film used for more permanent paint jobs.
