About me¶
Hello world! I’m Victor Ughelli. I’m a computer science engineer based in Asunción, Paraguay.
I’ve been on web applications and mobile aplications for a while. I usually interact with web servers, cloud services and a lot of digital stuff. But I want to go beyond that and create things that interact directly with the “physical world” so I decided to join this program.
I cant wait to learn how to use the lab equipment to start creating and fabricating things. I know it’s going to be an amazing and unforgettable experience.

I don’t have much experience fabricating “physical” things, but there’s one project that I would like to show you:
As Pablo mentioned during the 3rd day of the students bootcamp, there are 3 types of projects: The Good project , the bad project and the ugly project . Well, I think this project mets the requirements of a “Bad” one… especially because of its awkward design. But it’s just duct tape… and a Magnetic contact switch and a Pir Motion sensor both connected to a Raspberry Pi Zero W board.
It is difficult to understand its purpose, but let me explain the idea: as a sedentary software developer I didn’t want to leave my desktop to find that the nearest bathroom was occupied. Walking to the next bathroom wasn’t an option. So I installed this little “project” there to monitor the status of the bathroom in real time. It worked for a couple of days, but then the advanced duct tape mechanism failed…
It may be a bad project, but it’s a good example of how much I need to improve my digital fabrication skills.
