17. Applications and Implications¶
Propose a final project masterpiece that integrates the range of units covered, answering:¶
What will it do?
Representation of the vestibulo-ocular reflex
Who’s done what beforehand?
I did not find a previous similar project
What will you design?
I already designed the head
I still have to design the eye movement mechanism and the platform where the sensors and the circuit board will be placed
What materials and components will be used?
1. PLA for 3D printing of the head and the internal platform for the components
2. The components: MPU 6050 (accelerometer and gyroscope), PCI with Atmega 328 microprocessor, servo motors, connectors
Where will come from?
All components come from lab stock except for the MPU6050 sensor.
For the mechanism of movement of the eyes, screws will be needed that I will get from the hardware store
*How much will they cost? * I still do not have the exact cost of materials and components
What parts and systems will be made?
The head, the platform for the eye movement system, the eyes and the circuit
What processes will be used?
2D and 3D design processes
Aditive fabrication processes
Electronic design and production processes.
Programming processes
*What questions need to be answered? * It will be possible to represent the mechanism of the vestibulo-oculomotor reflex as close to the physiological mechanism
And if such a mechanism can be represented, it would be possible to recreate some of the functional alterations of the reflex.
